Unity At All Costs

Article

I was recently at a Christian leaders’ conference called ‘Difficult Conversations’, and subtitled ‘How do we maintain unity’? The subjects for conversation included Islam, gender issues, same-sex marriage, and how Maori see our Pakeha-European churches. As I listened to the […]

What’s to Celebrate About Parihaka?

Article

Irrelevant Celebrations What’s to celebrate about Parihaka? Well, consider what we are already celebrating as a nation every year, on 31st October and 5th November: Halloween and Guy Fawkes Day. Since Halloween is still relatively new to NZ, many elderly […]

New Zealand’s Amazing Covenant – The Treaty of Waitangi

Article

Two old friends were at a wedding. When the minister came to the familiar marriage text, “the two shall become one”, one laughed, leaned over to the other and whispered, “Yes, and we all know which one that will be!” […]

One Big Word

Teaching

Propitiation What’s propitiation? It’s one big word but well worth understanding because it perfectly explains why Jesus died and why we need Him. There’s a lot of confusion today about this. William Paul Young, for example, author of popular Christian […]

The Hermeneutics of Daniel and Revelation

Teaching

Introduction Hermeneutics is the study of how to interpret the Scriptures and the books of Daniel and Revelation are particularly difficult.  I’ve been studying them since 1973, listening carefully to competing eschatologies and observing first-hand the outworking in cults and sects […]

Who’s Colonising Whom?

Article

We’re often told today that the Jews are the “colonisers” and “imperialists” in the Middle East but who’s fact-checking this? Obviously, the building of Jewish settlements in the West Bank is a complex issue which must be carefully negotiated to […]

Divorce & Remarriage

Teaching

I was recently contacted by a friend in Pakistan about a court case there where a Muslim judge was allowing a Christian woman to divorce her abusive ‘Christian’ husband. Christian leaders there, however, were responding that she couldn’t, even when […]

Milk or Meat – Why We Aren’t Growing Spiritually

Teaching

Introduction – Growing Spiritually My primary concern as a Bible teacher is that we are growing spiritually.  I’ve been challenged by Hebrews 5:11-14 Concerning him [Melchizedek] we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have […]

A Colloquium and Its Book

Article

I recently read The Gospel and the Land of Promise (Christian Approaches to the Land of the Bible). Published in 2013, it’s a collection of essays arising from a one-day colloquium at Auckland’s Laidlaw-Carey Graduate School on July 9, 2009. I […]

Blessed Are the Peacemakers

Article

Part 1. Peacemakers – “A Time For Everything”Sometimes, as Mrs Roy says above, fighting back is just “not worth it”! In Solomon’s famous words: There is an appointed time for everything under heaven… a time for war and a time for […]

THRESHING HOUR
Armageddon & Babylon the Great

Dreading Armageddon and Babylon the Great? This battle will be an overwhelming victory for Israel and the Jews, preceded by a revival.
As for Babylon the Great, it's as old as the Fall and much larger and more pervasive than we may have suspected.

_______________

The mark of the beast is not about who you are but about who he is and how you are living.

RECENT ARTICLESReally? These Historic Palestine maps are a blatant lie, parading in plain sight, for all who haven’t yet learned relevant history and, as George Santayana predicted, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it”.

For years we have been taught  we should not speak against our church leaders, that it was a sin to not support them – to question their leading was to question God! …If God was to forbid them questioning their leaders’ leadings, they would be forever trapped.

Jesus constantly urged His disciples to trust all the OT prophecies. He particularly  pointed to Daniel the prophet.

So much unrest with riots. How much thought do the rest of us give to keeping our political freedoms? We’re born free but do we know how to stay free?

Our peoples becoming one was never to be at the expense of either Maori or Pakeha. Rather, it was to make us all the richer for being supported, and defended, in all of our diversity and cultural inheritances.

We are pro human rights for all. Some people don’t believe that “all men are created equal. Here’s what we mean”

Throughout Israel’s long and storied history, every year every Jewish child learned about empires in their annual festivals. Do we understand our roots with them as we should?

It seems obvious that the fabulously, and often ostentatiously, wealthy Arab nations could easily resolve the Palestinian refugee crisis so why don’t they?

We often read or hear it said today that the Jews are the “colonisers” in the Middle East. Take the names – a Jew comes from the land of Judea; an Arab from the land of Arabia. However, let’s consider the big picture.

Given the present world-wide media focus on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, it seems odd to me that so little background analysis to these events is being offered.

There are two revealed blue-prints for church structure. First, as outworked by Jesus with the Jews and the second by Paul  among the Gentiles. We will see that despite being in very different cultures, they are identical structures.

We have to commit ourselves to respecting and being patient with each other as we take the time necessary to follow as many steps as become necessary of the seven in the Biblical process.

What’s propitiation? It’s one big word but well worth understanding because it perfectly explains why Jesus died and why we need Him.
